The right size is the one you forget about once the boat leaves the ramp. This guide helps you choose a size for every Jersey Hollow product family: long sleeve fishing and hunting jerseys, hooded jerseys and hoodies, the women’s fitted cut, youth sizes, the family crew jersey, tees, board shorts and trucker caps. We do not publish a numeric size chart on this page. Instead, we walk you through a simple method that works well for apparel bought online: measure a shirt you already own and like, then compare. If you would like the exact garment measurements for a specific product and size before you order, email us and we will send them.

Sizing at a glance

  • Long sleeve jerseys come in a unisex adult cut, sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL, at the same price for every size.
  • Hoodies and quarter-zip pullovers run S to 4XL. The women’s fitted cut runs XS to 2XL. Youth sizes run XS, S, M, L and XL.
  • The family crew jersey comes in youth XS to XL and adult S to 3XL. Tees and board shorts run S to 3XL. Caps are one size with an adjustable back.
  • Best method: lay a shirt you like flat, measure it, and compare with the product’s garment measurements, which we send by email on request.
  • Wrong size? Returns are accepted within 60 days with a free return label. Before production, a size change is possible within 24 hours of ordering.

The shirt-on-the-table method

Body measurements tell you about you; garment measurements tell you about the shirt. When you compare one shirt with another, you skip the guesswork of how much room a cut is meant to have. Here is how to do it.

  1. Pick a long sleeve shirt you already wear and like the fit of. If you are buying a jersey, choose a crew-neck long sleeve shirt; if you are buying a hoodie, choose a hoodie.
  2. Lay it flat on a table or a clean floor, front side up, smoothing out wrinkles without stretching the fabric.
  3. Measure straight across the chest, from one side seam to the other, just below the armpits.
  4. Measure the body length from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the bottom hem.
  5. Measure the sleeve from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
  6. Write the three numbers down and email them to support@jerseyhollow.shop with the product name, or ask us for that product’s garment measurements and compare them yourself.

Use a soft tape measure if you have one. A metal tape from the tackle box or the garage works too, as long as you lay it along the shirt rather than bending it. Measure twice; a shirt that has slid on the table gives a different number.

Why we do not post a chart here

Garment measurements can vary between product families and between production runs, and we would rather give you the figures for the exact item you are looking at than publish a general chart that might not match it. One email gets you the right numbers for the product and size you have in mind.

Long sleeve jerseys from S to 5XL

Most of the catalogue sits here: the lake, river and stream, saltwater and offshore, and hunting jerseys, plus the Custom Name versions with your name on the back. They share a unisex adult cut with a crew neck and long sleeves, and the all-over print runs across the front, back and sleeves. Every size from S to 5XL is the same price, so there is no reason to squeeze into a smaller size to save money.

Choosing between two sizes

If your measurements fall between two sizes, think about how you will wear the jersey. For a casting day in warm weather, many people prefer the size that matches their usual shirt. For cold mornings at the ramp, the next size up leaves room for a layer. Both are fine choices; it comes down to personal preference.

Gift buying without a tape measure

Buying a Custom Name Bass Tournament jersey for a birthday and cannot measure his shirts without spoiling the surprise? Check the size label on a shirt in his drawer that he wears often. That label is a reasonable starting point. If you order XL and then remember a few hours later that he lives in 2XL, email us within 24 hours of placing the order and we can change it. If you notice four days later, the 24-hour change window has passed, and the return route applies instead: give the jersey, and if it does not fit, send it back within 60 days.

Layering under a jersey or a hoodie

Fall and spring fishing often starts cold and ends warm. A lot of anglers wear a thin layer under the jersey at first light, or pull a hoodie over it while running across the lake. Here is how to think about it.

Hoodie under the jersey

If you plan to wear a hoodie underneath a long sleeve jersey, measure the hoodie you would actually wear, lay it flat, and compare its chest width with the jersey’s garment measurements. If the jersey is only slightly wider than the hoodie, the fit will be snug over the layer; going one size up gives more room for the hood and cuffs. This is a personal call. Some people like a close layer, others want room to move when they cast.

Jersey under a hoodie or jacket

Wearing the jersey as the base and pulling a hoodie or quarter-zip over it is usually simpler. Order the jersey in your normal size and the hoodie in your normal hoodie size, and compare the hoodie with a sweatshirt you already wear over a long sleeve shirt.

Deer camp and duck blind

Hunting jerseys often go over a base layer and under a jacket. Check the sleeve length of your current layering shirt, because extra layers can pull a sleeve up the wrist when you raise your arms. Remember that hunting jerseys are not safety or blaze garments; follow your local rules on visibility clothing.

Hoodies, quarter-zips and hooded jerseys

The hooded long sleeve jersey, quarter-zip pullover, pullover hoodie, full-zip hoodie and custom name hoodie come in sizes S to 4XL. Compare them with a hoodie or sweatshirt you already own rather than with a T-shirt, since the way a hoodie sits at the hem and cuff is different. Measure chest width, body length and sleeve length the same way as for a jersey.

For a full-zip hoodie, lay it flat with the zipper closed before you measure. For a quarter-zip, close the zip to the top. If you like to wear a hoodie open over a jersey, the full-zip in your normal size is usually the easier choice.

Women’s fitted cut, youth sizes and family sets

Women’s fitted long sleeve jersey

The women’s fitted cut comes in XS to 2XL and is shaped differently from the unisex adult cut. Compare it with a fitted women’s long sleeve top. If you prefer a looser feel on the water, you can also choose the unisex adult jersey in a smaller size; compare its garment measurements with a relaxed shirt you own to see which you like.

Youth long sleeve jerseys

Youth jerseys come in XS, S, M, L and XL. Children grow quickly, so measure a long sleeve shirt that fits the child now rather than going by age. Many parents and grandparents choose the next size up for a jersey meant to last a couple of seasons.

Teens between youth and adult

A teen who wears Youth XL may be close to adult S. Ask us for both garment measurements and lay the teen’s favourite shirt beside them. If the youth size is already snug, the adult cut usually makes more sense; if there is plenty of room left in Youth XL, staying in youth sizes keeps the print scaled to their frame.

Fishing club and crew orders

When a group of friends orders matching Lake jerseys in one order, each person picks their own size and their own name on the back. Collect everyone’s size before checkout instead of guessing, and ask anyone who is unsure to use the flat-lay method on a shirt they already own. A short list of names and sizes, checked once by each person, avoids most mix-ups on a group order.

Custom Name Family Fishing Crew sets

The family crew jersey is offered in youth XS to XL and adult S to 3XL, so a whole family can wear the same print with each name on the back. When a grandfather orders four jerseys for a summer lake trip, two adult and two youth, the simplest approach is to ask each household to measure one shirt per person and send the sizes before he orders. If the parcel is going to a daughter’s address in Canada, the sizes still work the same way; only the delivery address changes.

Tees, board shorts and caps

Short sleeve all-over print tees and board shorts come in S to 3XL. For tees, compare with a short sleeve tee you wear often, using the same flat-lay method. For board shorts, lay a pair of shorts that fit you well flat and measure across the waistband edge to edge, then from the waistband down to the hem; ask us for the board shorts’ garment measurements and compare.

Trucker caps are one size with an adjustable back. Loosen the strap fully before trying the cap on, then tighten until it sits firmly without pressing.

If the size is not right

Even with careful measuring, a size sometimes does not work out. You have two routes.

  • Within 24 hours of ordering: email us to change the size before the order goes into production. See Cancel or Change an Order.
  • After the item arrives: return it within 60 days using the free return label we provide, including personalised items. Read the steps on our Returns and Exchanges Policy page; refunds go back to the original payment method within 7 days of us receiving the return, as set out in our Refund Policy.

Personalised jerseys are printed exactly as typed, so a new size means a new print. Order the replacement size as a new order when you are ready.

Care that keeps the fit

How you wash a jersey affects how it fits later. Wash cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle, with no bleach. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low, and do not iron over the print. Following these steps helps the jersey keep the size you chose.
